What Higgsfield's Free Credits Actually Buy
Higgsfield's free tier gives you 10 credits. I found out one video generation spends all of them, so the free allowance is really a single clip.
Higgsfield is an AI video generator, and like most of them it runs on credits rather than a flat monthly plan. I wanted to know how far the free allowance went before paying anything, so I made an account and spent it.
I signed up for Higgsfield to try its AI video generation, and the starter credits are where it got me. I had 10 credits to work with, which sounded like enough to test the thing properly. It was not. One video generation used all 10 at once. So the free allowance that reads like ten tries is really one clip, and the moment I wanted a second video I was at the paywall. That is the part that cost more than I expected: not the sticker price, the speed at which 10 credits turns into zero.
Where the 10 go
The cost depends on what you generate. Published 2026 rate breakdowns put a five second clip on one of the cheaper models at about 10 credits, and the sharper or longer models cost far more per clip, into the tens of credits for one short video. On the free tier that math is the whole story. One ordinary clip and the balance is zero.
What I take from it
Ten credits reads like a free trial of the product. It is really a free trial of the signup flow. You get to see the interface and make one thing, and the first real choice Higgsfield hands you is whether to pay. That is fine once you know it, and worth knowing before you plan an afternoon of testing around a number that lasts one render. If you are weighing which of these tools earns a subscription, I went through that in which AI video tools are worth paying for.
